Launching a cross-border ecommerce store: a practical checklist

Do not start with the theme. Start with a real purchase path. A buyer needs to find the product, understand the offer, and get through payment without hitting a dead end.

Pick a goal you can test

Choose one launch market, product category, language, currency, and payment method. Write down a testable outcome, such as "a US mobile visitor can complete a test order." "The site looks ready" is too vague to use as a release check.

Build the store in this order

  1. Set up the store name, theme, domain, and essential pages.
  2. Publish real products with images, variants, stock, shipping, and returns information.
  3. Configure a payment method and complete sandbox or low-value live tests.
  4. Test search, cart, checkout, order notices, and support from a buyer's view.
  5. Fix findings and repeat the full purchase path.

Run the purchase path once more

Check that mobile pages, checkout, and notifications use the same language. Each test order should be easy to find in the admin area, and the support contacts should reach a real person. Start with a small release group. It is easier to fix a checkout problem there than after opening several markets.
